Two Eleanors, one book

Friday, 4 October 2019

The first of the several books I had in a wishlist for the run up to the end of the year was released in Britain this week: 'The Two Eleanors of Henry III: the lives of Eleanor of Provonce and Eleanor de Montford'. Darren Baker has written again in the era of Henry III, this time a new approach at looking at the role these two women played in politics of the reign of Henry III. Darren has written an account of the life of Simon de Montfort (2015 and a revised edition 2018) and  of Henry III (2017). For those yet to read the page in this site on Henry III, it is a biography praised by Professor David Carpenter, the author of the soon to be Yale English Monarchs book on Henry.
