For those English Monarchs readers still dwelling in the era of Edward the Confessor, more good reading from that period is at hand. In 2019 Bloomsbury Academic released Eleanor Parker’s “Dragon Lords: the History and Legends of Viking England”. During September the book was released in paperback, ISBN 9781350165359. Eleanor Parker is Lecturer in Medieval English Literature at the University of Oxford. Rather than repeat the well-known accounts of “Vikings” the publicity for this title says that the book “...unlocks secrets that point to more complex motivations within the marauding army that in the late-9th century voyaged to the shores of eastern England."
