An important new history of the mother of Edward IV and Richard III, 'Cecily Duchess of York', was published by Bloomsbury in 2019. This is the first scholarly book looking at this significant woman of the late-Plantagenet period and has been widely praised as a history of high quality. The author, J. L. Laynesmith, is a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Reading and won a Longman-History Today book prize for her 2004 book which examined English queenship during the second-half of the fifteenth-century.
