Continuing with recent biographies of well-known women in English history, a recent biography by Leanda de Lisle of Henrietta Maria, wife of Charles I, was released in 2022. The book comes with recommendations by historian Andrew Roberts as “Revisionist history at its absolute best.” The author’s intent is to rehabilitate Henrietta Maria’s reputation and to promote her into the ranks of England’s most important queens. Leanda de Lisle was quoted as recommending another recent (2015) biography of Henrietta Maria by Dominic Pearce and now it is her turn to have a biography of the same subject. The book was released by Chatto & Windus.
