Readers of the newly released volume two of Ronald Hutton’s biography of Oliver Cromwell will be interested also in another new Yale title called ‘The Fall: last days of the English republic’. This is written by Henry Reece, emeritus fellow of Jesus College, Oxford. The book bears a cover endorsement by none other than fellow Yale author Ronald Hutton. The focus of the book is the two years of tumult which followed the death of Cromwell, leading to the restoration.
